ABOUT HOWLETT FARM FIBER WORKS
Howlett Farm is part of an original 2000 acre land grant from King George III to the Burleigh (sic) family sometime in the 1700s. The farm and Howlett Farm Fiber Works is currently around 20 acres, surrounded by forestry, in South Chesterfield, VA. It had been a working farm in my childhood – my father raised Black Angus beef cattle, hogs and chickens; field crops of corn and soy beans.
Today, Howlett Farm is home to Angora Goats for fleece to wash and spin into yarn, 3 Great Pyranees, our barn cat Tilly, chickens, ducks and geese for eggs, various plants and vegetables, trail riding for horses and tours for a farm experience to see and learn about some of the farm resources, sustainability and preservation.
